Malama is the Hawaiian word meaning to care for, nurture and protect. When we care for others, we heal ourselves. Living in harmony with humanity and nature, we take full responsibility for our lives and our story, and recognize that everything and everyone is connected.

Malama LLC is born from a period of resilience, along with a desire to evolve into something more.

The healing journey doesn’t just stop when you begin to feel better – the path gives us the opportunity to go further, deeper. It can be tempting to stay where life feels comfortable, even if that comfort doesn’t always feel good or enough. After all, we only know what we know, based on our perceptions and interpretations of life as we are living it now. At Malama LLC, we tend and nurture one another, cultivating a healing space for growth and transformation. 

It's time to stop playing small, because there is a really big world out there waiting for you. 

Malama LLC provides a bridge to move forward, or transform, while honoring the journey it took to survive. There is always another side, a before and after. With the resources designed through Malama LLC, honoring resilience is often the starting point to moving beyond what we thought was ever possible.

The making of Malama LLC

For over 12 years, JM Wellness LLC, created and led by Jen Monika McCurdy, M.Ed., LPC, has provided empirically-based, licensed professional counseling designed to nurture the human mind and heart. Specializing in maternal mental health and human empowerment, this private counseling practice has navigated both pre- and post-pandemic times by providing an assortment of ways to connect and heal in a world that changed before our eyes. The fervent mission of JM Wellness LLC has always remained the same: Empowering you to think big as hope seems small. The art of counseling developed and executed by Jen remains strong and vibrant, and will continue on its mission of empowerment and hope.

As the mission of JM Wellness LLC implores everyone to think big, this includes the business itself. As in all therapeutic relationships, therapists can only lead their clients to spaces they are willing to go themselves. Therefore, inspired by its own mission, JM Wellness LLC is evolving and welcoming an affiliate company, Malama LLC.

Inspired and led by Jen Monika McCurdy, M.Ed., LPC, founder and creator of JM Wellness LLC and Malama LLC, and co-owner of CCM & JMM Wellness LLC (children’s book writers), Malama LLC takes emotional healing to the next level by navigating life’s transitions with empowerment, resilience and grace. Focusing on the psychology and exquisite art of being human, the work here reminds us that we are destined to go bigger, and be brave.
